Mind and Movement Therapy

Serving adults in a client-centered climate, using the tenets of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), through a solution-focused lens, helping clients to identify and remove barriers that have denied them happiness and joy. The client-centered approach aims to foster authenticity in the client/therapist relationship, whereby the therapist accepts that the client is their best expert. Honing in on this, the therapist works with the client providing support, empathy, and reflective listening. In keeping with the fundamental foundation of CBT, the collaborative effort of the therapist and the client, will find them on a journey to alter the client's long held and distorted beliefs about themselves, others, and the world. In this way, the client may learn to see things a little differently, and act upon, and from, their new beliefs about themselves, others, and the world.

Laura Rae Venditti, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois, as well as being licensed in the state of Florida and Indiana. I obtained my B.A., with a concentration in psychology, from Saint Xavier University, in Chicago, where I also minored in Pastoral Ministry. I obtained my M.A. in Gerontological Counseling from Adler University, in Chicago. I have served clients from 5 (yrs.) through 90 (yrs.) in academic, clinical, and nursing home settings. I approach therapy within a client-centered climate, using the tenets of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), through a solution-focused lens. I help clients identify obstacles and explore solutions, believing that if one wants something to change, one has to be willing to foster change. The client and I will explore barriers, and remove roadblocks that have denied them their joy. I work with my clients to explore their version of a better life in a quest to make it their reality. In essence, we are on this journey together.

When I am not working, I enjoy time spent with family, and especially find joy spending time with my grandchildren. One of my favorite pastimes is attending baseball games, and am especially loyal to my Chicago White Sox. I take advantage of the benefits of exercise, as it greatly contributes to attaining balance and minimizing stress in my life. Therefore, I love the advantages of living in the city where I can walk, run, or bike, most anywhere I need to go.
